Graduation Requirements

Standard Diploma

The student must complete and receive passing grades for a minimum of 25 credits.

College and career readiness tests

Earn the remediation-free scores on either:

ACT
English – 18 or higher
Mathematics – 22 or higher
Reading – 22 or higher

SAT
Reading/Writing – 480 or higher
Mathematics – 530 or higher

CCS has selected the ACT as the state –funded (free) test offered to all juniors. The guidance department can provide details on students also earning points through AP exam scores and College Credit Plus course grades.

  • The student must complete and receive passing grades for specific areas of study, including one credit of Biblical Studies for each year of attendance at CCS.

NOTE: The standard diploma meets the State of Ohio graduation requirements. The majority of colleges, however, prefer to enroll students who have completed the college prep coursework or honors diploma requirements. College prep coursework differs only with the addition of two credits of foreign language (Spanish or German).

Credits Required for Standard Diploma

  • Biblical Studies: 4 credits – 1 per year at CCS
  • English: 4 credits
  • Mathematics: 4 credits (including Algebra II)
  • Science: 3 credits (including Biology & a physical science)
  • Technology: ½ credit
  • Physical Education: ½ credit (or PE Waiver)
  • Social Studies: 3 credits (including World History, U.S. History and Government & Economics)
  • Health: ½ credit
  • Fine Arts: 1 credit
  • Electives: 3 credits
  • Foreign Language: 2 credits suggested
  • Research: ½ credit
  • Speech Communication: ½ credit

20 hours for High School and 12 hours for Junior High of Christian/community service is required by all students for standard and honors diplomas.
