Les Misérables, adapted from the French novel by Victor Hugo, has been a part of the musical theatre canon since 1980, and still stands as the longest running show in the West End. Its mesmerizing music and tragic tales hit home for a people who long for justice and weep with the brokenhearted. It follows a large group of characters through a span of about 17 years. Jean Valjean, our protagonist, is a released convict trying to escape his past. Javert, our antagonist, is a police officer on a mission to see Valjean behind bars once more. We meet many others who are destitute and desperate for a better life—the Miserable ones. Come and see their stories in this epic, historical drama!
